you have got to be kidding me. as if barney frank had never seen democrats and generally, liberals in this country ridiculous or cruelly label of their political foes as nazis or whatever else.
barney frank is an asshole. he could have handled this better. i dont understand that woman's perspective, either, but at least shes not a representative.
i dont have health care. its my own fault. i dont want the government to provide it for me. that shouldnt be its responsibility. improving or streamlining the system is one thing, but its the democrats – they will fuck it up for sure.
thanks for letting me voice my opinion, chubarama…
now, back to the chubs!

The fact that America does not consider the health of its citizens as a basic human right is particularly disheartening. The fact that people are afraid of being given the option of a health care system that is operated by taxes is shocking given how the last administration was absolutely vile in its use of tax dollars. I live in a country that has a government run health care system. I can see a doctor any time I want and the only time I have to pay is if I take an ambulance. That's it.
The fact that insurance companies, republicans and drug companies have been floating scary sounding lies about a government run health program (like government run education, food inspection, emergency crews etc) is only sadder for the people who believe them and would use that fear mongering to cloud what shouldn't even be a debate.
Furthermore, calling Obama a nazi is a gross misuse of the term. So well done Barney.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you, jason. People like that can't be reasoned with so I'm not sure how he could have handled it better. Also, considering Barney is Jewish, I'd say it wasn't very smart of that woman to imply that he would support a "nazi" president in the first place.
However, I do agree with you on the subject of health care. I'm all for making it more affordable, but, at the moment, I'm just not convinced that public funding is the answer. There are too many variables that have me concerned.

Sorry to sidestep the politics for a moment (I'm British and so not going to comment), but Papa Barney is TOTALLY cute when he's pissed off.

The irony here is that the politics of Adolf Hitler lie just to the right of the Republican doctrine.
I believe the woman was trying to liken the socialist concept of universal health care to communism. However, this woman should have spend more time educating herself than watching "Survivor" and "The Bachelor." She just looks like a fan. Dear Lady: Fascism and Socialism are not the same thing.
And, I would rather debate a dining room table, thank you … at least I could cook nice food and pair proper wines to place on the table and everyone wins!

Jason…what Frank should have done is jumped down from the podium and kicked that woman's narrow ass! Because YOU don't want the government offering you health coverage doesn't give you the right to deny it to millions of others. And Democrats certainly have more tolerance for a website such as this than hypocritical, closeted Repubs, that's for sure!
P.S. Obama NEVER mentioned eliminating private insurance plans!
