Hi, what’s going on with Chubarama?

Here are some frequently asked questions:
Q: Did the guy who writes Chubarama die?
A: No, no he did not. I'm still here, I still have a crack team of Chubarama Elves on Chub Safari, and I still have plenty of fans and readers sending me pictures and videos, too. I've been rudely ignoring them, for the most part. But I'm alive and well.
Q: Why are you not updating any more?
A: A lot of reasons. The biggest being, I haven't felt like it. I started Chubarama what feels like a long time ago, and while I've never lost my passion for big men appreciation, I did feel for a while that the blog was mostly on autopilot. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, of course, and Chubarama's readers never seemed to mind, but it was getting to be more of a chore than a fun hobby sometimes. Also, my life is a lot different now than when I started the blog. I'm busy, I have a personal and social life, and quite simply I've had other things taking up my time.
Q: Could you please start updating more?
A: Yes. I probably will. There is no way for Chubarama to go back to the days when there were 10 updates a day, but after some encouragement from people I care about I'm going to start ramping up production. Posts will appear less often, but they will appear. At least one new author is going to be added into the fold. The site will probably get a complete redesign and overhaul by the end of the year. As a long-term project we're thinking about drastically changing the format of published posts, or adding new sections to the site. We will absolutely do Chub of the Year 2010.
Q: But no, seriously, where have you been?
A: Ok. Honestly, I'm still reading Tumblr a lot. I started Chubarama before anything like Tumblr was on the scene, but if Tumblr has proven anything, it's that anybody can do what I do here. And I mean that in the best possible way; I do not have any monopoly at all on trolling the internet for pictures of chunky guys. There's a wonderful collective sense of discovery that comes with tens or hundreds of people finding and sharing images of big men together, which was exactly my motivation for starting my little blog here in the first place. "Hey, check out how beautiful this guy is. Isn't that great? Let me share it with you!" So it's with that inspiration, plus the positive feedback from my readers, that will keep me going here.
Now let's go check out some fatties.

Maybe you need some readers to come on board like associate editors or something to take on some of the load (so to speak)?

You have created a central point for chubs, chasers, gay people and even straight… I once considered this site my ‘scandal magazine’ that gladly lacked Paris and Gaga in favor of chubby stars all over the world – stuff that us chasers really care about… Aside from the potential marketing goldmine that could power this site and point us to further resources in the field, this place still has a lot of potential and I’m afraid at this rate, you are letting it go to waste in replacement for tumblr, which lacks the literacy component and focuses more on just the eye candy (I really enjoy the mix of both you have here). Please, consider delegating as the person above this comment suggests, because as far as I’m aware, there’s nothing like this site – and I don’t want to see it fade away!

As a web developer I offer my support to help revamp the site to where you would like it to be. My email address is provided in this post, so please contact to discuss if you would like.
Thanks

@Nels – yes. I already have one trusted reader who will be coming on board. The fun with adding more chefs is that at least in the short term getting more help requires more work, as it is with pretty much all projects. So I’ll be adding one new publisher to the blog immediately with an eye toward expanding more in the future. But not quickly.
@William – thanks for the kind words. I agree, Chubarama is still unique in this very niche market, and it will stay that way. I have no plans in turning Chubarama into a Tumblog (indeed, that’s why I already have Chubarama on Tumblr) but I just brought it up to point out that the sort of spirit with which I started Chubarama is still alive and well even if this blog has (momentarily) slowed down. I’m working on renewed vigor, renewed energy, and renewed enthusiasm. We’re getting there.
@Will – thanks, I’ll be in touch. I have some ideas from other developers as well but I have made nothing close to firm plans yet.
@kache – it won’t. I, personally, will kill Chubarama some day, or at least pass it off to someone I trust very much. But I’m all about being charge of the blog’s destiny, if you will, and Tumblr’s influence so far has been a positive inspiration.

Matt, welcome back, I’ve really missed you.

I agree with ‘kache’. Bearmythology was a superb blog which met an untimely and needless end thanks to Tumblr!
