John Goodman in True Stories
From the wiki:
"True Stories is an American musical film directed by and starring musician David Byrne. It also stars John Goodman and Swoosie Kurtz, and was released in the US, Canada and Sweden in 1986 (with limited release elsewhere the following year)."
"The music video version of "Wild Wild Life" that debuted on MTV is simply a scene taken from the film, in which many of the film's characters (including John Goodman) lip-synch to the music in a night club; the video version is more risque and features more pop music references/parodies than seen in the film; the Prince and Billy Idol parodies remain in the film version."

YES! My ultimate favorite John Goodman film of all-time. I was 13 when this movie came out and begged my mom to order the movie when it came out on Pay-Per-View. At the time, it was $19.99 per movie, I think. My family still had a Betamax player so I used it to record the film. Even at a young age, I knew that I had to record it in SP mode for great quality. Lol.
But John Goodman was so adorable in the movie. And when he referred to himself as a “bear” I did not know that it was a terminology that’s being used already to describe such hefty and husky men. To this day, I still have both True Stories soundtracks (my favorite is obviously the one where John Goodman sings “People Like Us”).
Thank you for the wonderful flashback!
